Happy Holidays

This is the last post before we go on our holidays. I hope you all have a good summer, and find the summer programme on re-discovering the Bible in different ways helpful. Have fun, and make sure you thank God for the beauty and richness of His world as you discover more of it.

I've just returned from holiday and looking forward to reflecting on some texts as part of the summer programme. I had a quick look at the material tonight and the verse, 'Thy Word have I hid in mine heart that I may not sin against thee' was probably one of the first pieces of scripture that I learnt as a new Christian many moons ago! An old aunt of mine on her travels from the States gave it to me to memorise. I remember as a teenager being not at all impressed. I remember thinking surely the Bible must contain something more mind-blowing and more poetic than this. It was no Shakespearean sonnet! But over the years (more than I care to mention or remember), I've come to really appreciate just how powerful this piece of scripture is. To live and breathe 'The Word' is to be one with Jesus and to be one with Jesus is to be one with The Father. Shakespeare and all his sonnets can't beat that! I was also to discover later, much to my delight, the beautiful poetry contained within the pages of the Bible. I look forward to sharing it with you. God bless and happy holidays for all those fortunate enough to be escaping the miserable Scottish weather.
